Details of the By-elections

The Election Commission announced on Sunday that by-elections will take place on June 19 for five assembly seats across four states. According to election officials, Gujarat will see by-elections for two assembly seats, while Kerala, West Bengal, and Punjab will each have one seat contested. The counting of votes is set for June 23.


Reasons for By-elections in Gujarat

In Gujarat, the by-election for the Kadhi seat has been necessitated due to the passing of MLA Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki. Additionally, the Visavadar seat will hold a by-election following the resignation of the current member, Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai.


By-elections in Other States

In Kerala, a by-election will be held for the Nilambur seat due to the resignation of P.V. Anwar. Punjab's Ludhiana seat will also see a by-election following the death of the sitting member, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi. Furthermore, in West Bengal, the by-election for the Kaliaganj assembly seat is required due to the demise of current assembly member Nasiruddin Ahmed.
