Venue Change for UP T20 League Playoffs

Due to ongoing heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions in Kanpur, the UP T20 League Governing Council has decided to move the upcoming playoff matches and the Grand Finale of Season 4 from Kanpur to Lucknow. These crucial knockout matches will now take place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, adhering to the original schedule.

Sanjay Kapoor, the Chairman of the UP T20 League Governing Council, made this announcement during a press conference at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Monday. He highlighted that the league management's top priorities are to protect the players' interests, ensure optimal playing conditions, and maintain the highest standards of cricket.

Emphasis on Fair Play and Player Safety

"The persistent rain in Kanpur has made it nearly impossible to conduct full matches, which affects the game and the players' ability to demonstrate their skills. In critical playoff situations, it is vital that all teams have a fair chance to play a complete 20-over match," Kapoor remarked.

He elaborated that the decision was made with great consideration after analyzing the weather forecast, which indicates continued rainfall in Kanpur in the upcoming days.

"This choice was not made to favor or disadvantage any specific team, but solely to maintain the integrity of the sport and prioritize player welfare. A wet outfield from ongoing rain raises the risk of injuries. Additionally, we took into account the physical and mental strain players endure due to frequent weather disruptions and matches ending late at night. We believe that teams reaching the playoffs deserve the best conditions to perform at their highest level," he added.

The league management is committed to ensuring that fans experience uninterrupted cricket and that teams have the ideal environment to implement their strategies over a full 20 overs.

Acknowledgment of Support

The UP T20 League management expressed heartfelt thanks to fans, players, teams, officials, and all supporting organizations for their steadfast support during the Kanpur segment of the tournament. The press conference also featured Mohammad Faheem, Chairman of the UPCA Media Committee, and Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Member of the UP T20 League Governing Council, among other notable attendees.
