Significant Changes in Voter Registration in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the Election Commission of Uttar Pradesh has published the draft voter list. This list indicates that a total of 2.89 crore voters have been removed, which includes deceased individuals, those who have relocated, and duplicate entries. Previously, the state had 15.44 crore registered voters, but the new draft list now shows only 12.55 crore names.


The Chief Electoral Officer, Navdeep Rinhwa, reported that the highest number of deletions occurred in urban districts. Lucknow leads with 12 lakh names removed, followed by Prayagraj, where 11.56 lakh names were cut. The primary reasons cited for these removals include migration, death, and duplicate entries.

  7. Meerut – 6.65 lakh

  8. Gorakhpur – 6.45 lakh

  9. Sitapur – 6.23 lakh (approximately)

  10. Jaunpur – 5.89 lakh

  • Ghaziabad – Nearly 28%

  • Balrampur – 26%

  • Prayagraj – 24-25%
