Unusual Wedding Twist in Bihar: Bride Marries Groom's Brother
A Surprising Turn of Events
It is often said that fate has a hand in matchmaking, and a recent incident from Bihar has certainly reinforced this belief. In a surprising turn of events, a bride ended up taking vows with someone other than her intended groom. This unusual situation unfolded in Morarchak, under the jurisdiction of the Sigodi police station, where the groom was already seated at the wedding altar, and celebratory songs were being sung in the background.
As the bride made her way towards the mandap, the atmosphere was filled with joy until the police made an unexpected entrance into the courtyard. Before anyone could comprehend the situation, the police swiftly took the groom away from the mandap. This sudden action left the bride stunned, causing her to halt in her tracks and retreat.
Confusion reigned as onlookers struggled to understand what was happening. Just then, the village head made a dramatic appearance, and a panchayat was convened. After much deliberation, it was decided that the bride would marry the groom's younger brother instead. Both families agreed to this arrangement, and in a matter of moments, the younger brother was prepared for the ceremony, which took place right there at the mandap.
Curious about the reasons behind this cinematic sequence of events? Let's delve deeper into the story.
The groom, Anil Kumar, son of Sanjay Yadav from Siyarampur, was set to marry a girl from the village of Morarchak, known as Bhim Yadav or Pankaj. All wedding preparations were proceeding as planned. On June 15, when the wedding party arrived in Morarchak, the villagers warmly welcomed them. The guests were seated for refreshments when a girl claiming to be Anil's first wife learned about the wedding and rushed to the Sigodi police station, urging them to intervene and stop the marriage.
She presented the police with several photographs of her marriage to Anil, prompting them to support her claim. Meanwhile, the police informed the village head, Ashok Yadav, about the situation, revealing that the groom was already married to a woman named Ruby. This revelation shocked the villagers, and the news spread rapidly throughout the community.
Upon arriving at the police station, the first wife reiterated that she and Anil had been married for a year. Consequently, the police took Anil into custody. In the meantime, the villagers detained the wedding party, leading the village head to suggest a compromise to preserve the community's honor. After considerable discussion, it was agreed that the bride would marry Anil's younger brother. The wedding was conducted in the presence of both families, bringing the situation to a peaceful resolution. The police then released Anil with a written agreement to live with and care for his first wife, Ruby.
