A couple was set to marry, but the groom's intoxication and gutkha consumption led to a dramatic turn of events. Upon seeing the groom swaying and chewing gutkha, the bride refused to go through with the wedding.

The groom attempted to persuade the bride for hours, but she remained resolute in her decision. According to Shailendra Singh, the officer in charge of the Maniyar police station, the bride from Mishrauli village was set to marry a young man from Khejuri village. However, when the wedding procession arrived and she witnessed the groom chewing gutkha, she immediately declined to marry him.

After it became clear that the wedding would not take place, both families decided to return the gifts they had exchanged earlier. The wedding was scheduled for June 5, but due to the groom's addiction and gutkha consumption, the marriage fell apart before it even began. This isn't the first instance; a similar case occurred in Hamirpur district, highlighting that substance abuse can ruin lives and relationships. Perhaps it’s time to adopt the slogan: 'Avoid gutkha, or risk losing your relationship before marriage.'
