Unusual Reasons Behind a Wedding Cancellation in Uttar Pradesh
A Shocking Wedding Incident
In India, it is not uncommon for marriages to break down due to dowry issues, but there are other surprising reasons that lead to wedding cancellations. One such incident has emerged from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, where a couple's wedding was abruptly called off due to the groom's behavior involving gutkha, a type of chewing tobacco.
The groom, who was reportedly intoxicated and chewing gutkha, was seen by the bride, leading her to refuse the marriage. Despite the groom's attempts to persuade her to change her mind, she remained resolute in her decision to cancel the wedding.
According to Shailendra Singh, the officer in charge of Maniyar police station, the bride from Mishrauli village was set to marry a young man from Khejuri village. However, upon witnessing the groom's actions during the arrival of the wedding procession, she decided against proceeding with the marriage.
After the cancellation was confirmed, both families agreed to return the gifts that had been exchanged prior to the wedding. The ceremony was originally scheduled for June 5, but the groom's addiction to gutkha and intoxication led to the unfortunate end of the marriage. This incident follows a similar case in Hamirpur district, highlighting the detrimental effects of substance abuse on relationships. It seems that a new slogan should emerge: 'Avoid gutkha, or risk losing your relationship before marriage.'
