In Uttar Pradesh, a peculiar reason for divorce has emerged, as a man wishes to end his marriage due to his wife's lack of regular bathing. He claims that he finds her body odor unbearable and has expressed his inability to continue living with her, pleading for a divorce.

This case has escalated to the Women Protection Cell, where counseling sessions are being conducted in an effort to salvage their marriage. The incident took place in the Chandosi area of Aligarh district. Reports indicate that the couple, who married two years ago, initially had a harmonious relationship, but conflicts began to arise over time.

Despite welcoming a son into their family, the disputes continued to escalate. The situation became so severe that it reached the police and the Women Protection Cell. During counseling, the husband shocked everyone by citing his wife's hygiene as the primary reason for his request for divorce.

Husband's Claims During Counseling

The husband told the counselor, "Madam, my wife does not bathe daily, and I cannot tolerate the smell from her body. Please help me get a divorce." In contrast, the wife accused him of harassing her based on unfounded claims. The counselor attempted to mediate between the couple.

Similar Cases in the Past

This is not the first instance of such a case; a similar situation occurred two years ago in the Masaurhi area of Patna. In that case, a wife accused her husband of domestic violence and sought help from the women's commission, where the husband also mentioned his wife's bathing habits as a source of conflict. The commission advised the wife to improve her hygiene and instructed the husband to refrain from violence.
