How to Play NYT Connections

The game presents a grid filled with words, and your task is to identify the hidden connections among them. Consider synonyms, antonyms, and word families to solve the puzzle. If you encounter difficulties, hints are available within the game. You can also monitor your daily progress and challenge friends or other players to see who can solve the most puzzles.

A new puzzle is released daily at midnight, accessible via the NYT website or app. Your objective is to organize 16 words into four groups of four based on their connections. Categories can include clickable items, names of research participants, or words associated with body parts.

Each puzzle has a single solution, so be cautious of words that may fit into multiple categories. You can rearrange words to discover their connections.

The groups are color-coded, with yellow typically being the easiest, blue and green in the middle, and purple often the most challenging, often involving wordplay.

Select four words you believe belong together and click the ‘Submit’ button. If you guess incorrectly, you lose a life. However, if you're close to forming a correct group, a message may indicate you're just one word away from success, requiring you to decide which word to swap. Making four mistakes results in game over.
