A Wedding Like No Other in Changanassery

Some weddings are remembered for their floral arrangements, while others for the music, but a recent ceremony in Changanassery, Kerala, will be cherished for its uniqueness, as nearly every significant role was played by twins. The wedding took place at the Changanassery Metropolitan Church on Thursday, where Akhil K. Thomas held the hand of Maggie Mary Thomas, while his twin brother Nikhil K. Thomas stood beside him with Maggie's twin sister, Maria Mary Thomas.

The ceremony became even more special as twin priests officiated the wedding, assisted by twin helpers. For both families, this was not just a wedding; it was the realization of a dream nurtured over many years. The grooms, Akhil and Nikhil, are the twin sons of Kunjumon Thomas and Jomol, residents of Vettuperambil in Changanassery. The brides, Maggie and Maria, are the twin daughters of Tomichan and Marykutty from Kumbuluvil in Kulathoor, Pathanamthitta district.

The twin priests, Father Anto Pejumakattill and Father Ajo Pejumakattill from the Kanjirappally diocese, conducted the wedding rites, with assistance from twin brothers Jeron James and Johan James from Pala. The idea to include twins in every significant role was not coincidental.

The twin sisters actively sought out twin priests and eventually found them through a church in Kothanalloor, known for hosting events for twins. They expressed, 'Since childhood, we dreamed of having our wedding surrounded by twins. Our parents and family shared this wish as well. Jesus Christ made it happen. When we invited the priests, they immediately agreed to come.'

The priests also described the ceremony as a memorable occasion. Reflecting on their life experiences, they remarked, 'Both were born together and are now starting a new life together. We also entered the priesthood together. These are beautiful memories.' Both brothers work in the merchant navy, while the sisters are employed in the IT sector. For the guests, this wedding was a unique experience, distinct from any other.

For the families, it was a moment to celebrate the fulfillment of a joyful dream they had envisioned since childhood.
