An Unusual Theft in Sitapur

A peculiar theft incident has emerged from Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh. In the Mahmudabad area, a young man named Suyash Patel stole an agricultural tool (rotary tiller) from a shop and left behind a heartfelt letter. What did the letter say?

“I am taking this equipment... which I value at 90,000... and over three years at 10% interest, it will amount to 1,17,000... which you will receive within three years... May God bless you with success.”

These words are not from a bank agreement but from the letter left by the thief after committing the act. The story of the thief's honesty and desperation has made this incident a hot topic in the Mahmudabad area of Sitapur district.

Thief Expresses His Hardship

The thief left a letter that astonished everyone who read it. In the letter, he expressed his circumstances, stating, “I assure you that I committed this shameful act due to my extremely difficult situation, which was caused by some of my close friends. They have tried to ruin me and took away all my tools. Please trust me. Thank you, brother.”

Mistaken Identity of the Machine

The suspect has been identified as Suyash Patel, who arrived at the shop with an accomplice. They mistakenly took a rotary tiller, thinking it was a different machine. It is reported that the accused could not correctly identify the farming equipment and ended up taking the wrong one.

After the theft, the young man apologized in the letter, explaining that his circumstances were dire and he felt compelled to take such a step. However, the plot thickened when he realized that the machine he had taken was of no use to him. Consequently, feeling guilty or realizing its uselessness, he loaded the machine back onto a tractor late at night to return it quietly to the shop.

Caught Red-Handed by Locals

During this time, the shopkeeper became aware of the commotion. The shopkeeper and locals arrived at the scene and apprehended the young man and his accomplice. The rotary tiller and tractor were recovered from their possession. The incident was promptly reported to the police, who have taken both suspects into custody for questioning.

It is reported that the accused are residents of Labraha village. The Mahmudabad police chief, Bhanu Pratap Singh, stated that the victim shopkeeper has not yet filed a written complaint; if a complaint is received, legal action will be taken. Currently, this case of theft, the apology letter, and the attempt to return the machine has become a focal point of discussion in the entire area.
