Unique Robbery Gang Busted in Bareilly Using Wives as Decoys
Bizarre Robbery Tactics Uncovered
The Bareilly police have successfully dismantled an unusual gang of robbers who employed their wives in their criminal activities. This gang specifically targeted unsuspecting pensioners and government employees exiting banks. They would wait outside in separate auto-rickshaws, with their wives dressed attractively and made up to appear as passengers. These unsuspecting individuals would be lured into the rickshaws, only to be taken to a remote location where their cash would be stolen. Currently, law enforcement has arrested five individuals, including two couples, with the assistance of the Special Operations Group (SOG). Approximately one lakh rupees in stolen cash has been recovered, and the gang has admitted to eight robbery incidents so far.
Adil and Shaba are one couple involved, while Asgar and Noori make up another pair. The fifth member, Usman Ali, acted as the mastermind behind the gang's operations, directing the couples in their unique robbery schemes. Noori, alongside her friend Shaba, was the leader orchestrating the gang's activities.
Over the past year, there has been a notable increase in bank-related robberies in Bareilly. To address this, police officials deployed both regular officers and SOG teams. Usman Ali would scout banks during the first and second weeks of each month, identifying individuals withdrawing pensions and salaries. Adil and Asgar would arrive in separate autos with their wives, who were dressed to attract attention.
Once a person exited the bank after withdrawing cash, they would be signaled by Usman Ali to board the rickshaws. The wives, already seated and appearing as passengers, would assist in coaxing the victims into the vehicles. Naive individuals, mistaking these women for genuine passengers, would easily fall into their trap. Subsequently, the gang would drive away, feigning a vehicle malfunction, and rob the unsuspecting victims. According to police reports, the gang has confessed to eight such robbery incidents.
The Kotwali police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending this five-member gang, which has been active since last year. The members would observe individuals withdrawing cash from banks and wait outside in autos to pick them up. During the ride, they would execute their thefts. The women in the gang played a crucial role in distracting the victims while using coded signals. Over 93,000 rupees have been recovered from the gang, and they have admitted to eight robbery incidents. Investigations are ongoing.
