Historic Protest at Jantar Mantar

Today, the iconic Jantar Mantar in Delhi is set to witness a distinctive digital movement. Under the banner of the 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP), a significant protest is being organized. The founder of this satirical movement, Abhijit Dipke, arrived in Delhi from the United States around 7:30 AM and has urged his supporters, affectionately referred to as 'cockroaches', to gather at Jantar Mantar.

In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Abhijit Dipke stated, "All cockroaches should come directly to Jantar Mantar, do not go to the Parliament Street police station. We will commence our peaceful protest at 10 AM."

Demand for Resignation of Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

A photo shared from the official CJP handle shows Abhijit Dipke and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka upon their arrival in Delhi. In the image, Dipke is seen holding a copy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's autobiography.

The CJP has made it clear that this protest is aimed at demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Their slogan is, "With full support of the Constitution of India, cockroaches will gather at Jantar Mantar from 10 AM. Cockroaches are coming, Dharmendra Pradhan is going."

Conflicting Claims on Protest Permission

There are conflicting reports regarding the permission for this protest. CJP claims that they have received written authorization from the Delhi police to hold a peaceful demonstration from 10 AM to 5 PM at Jantar Mantar, which is signed by Abhijit Dipke. This is why supporters have been directed to gather at Jantar Mantar instead of going to the police station.

Conversely, sources from the Delhi police indicate that no formal written request for this protest has been received. However, in light of the ongoing social media activity, the police are on high alert.

Heightened Security Measures in Delhi

Given the call for this ground-level demonstration by the digital organization, the Delhi police are taking no chances. A significant number of security personnel have been deployed at Jantar Mantar since morning.

Moreover, the security measures extend beyond Jantar Mantar. As a precaution, security has been tightened across Delhi, with additional police forces stationed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, all border entry points, and other sensitive areas to maintain law and order.

As this unique 'Cockroach Movement' transitions from the digital realm to the streets, all eyes are on Jantar Mantar to see how the atmosphere unfolds throughout the day.
