Clearing Misconceptions About the Communication Partner App

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister for Communications and Development of the Northeastern Region, addressed various misconceptions surrounding the Communication Partner app today. He emphasized that the app is entirely democratic, voluntary, and user-centric. Citizens can activate it according to their convenience and have the option to delete the app at any time.


A Citizen-First and Privacy-Safe Platform

The Minister stated that ensuring the safety of every citizen is the government's top priority. The Communication Partner app represents a significant step in this direction, empowering mobile users to be secure and informed. It is not a tool for surveillance but a transparent digital security platform based on public participation. He explained that the app and portal enable citizens to protect their mobile numbers, identify fraudulent connections, track lost or stolen phones, and safeguard against cyber fraud.


Key Achievements of the Communication Partner App

Since its launch, the Communication Partner app has achieved remarkable success:


- Over 215 million portal visits


- More than 14 million app downloads


- 14.3 million mobile connections disconnected after citizens selected 'Not My Number'


- 2.6 million lost/stolen mobile phones traced, with 723,000 phones returned


- 648,000 fraudulent connections shut down based on inputs from 620,000 citizens


- 620,000 fraud-linked IMEI numbers blocked


- Prevention of potential economic losses exceeding ₹47.5 billion


Cybersecurity as the Core Objective of the Communication Partner App

Minister Scindia highlighted that through the app's call log feature, users can report any suspicious numbers, helping protect themselves and others from potential fraud. He reiterated that digital security is a top priority. The Communication Partner app is entirely voluntary, user-focused, and transparent, dedicated to safeguarding India's mobile consumers without compromising their privacy. Activating or deleting the app is entirely within the control of the citizens.
