Mandaviya Uplifts Indian Athletes' Spirits
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, recently visited the Indian team in Nagoya, Japan, where he engaged with the athletes to uplift their spirits before the 20th Asian Games 2026. He motivated them to perform at their best, maintain confidence, and embody the hopes of over a billion Indians.
During his discussions, Mandaviya emphasized that the athletes are not just competing for personal glory but are also ambassadors of India on an international platform. He expressed the nation's pride in their commitment, hard work, and perseverance.
The Minister also shared a meal with the athletes, creating a casual atmosphere where he listened to their thoughts, offered encouragement, and reminded them to savor the experience while keeping their focus on their objectives. He conveyed that each athlete represents the aspirations of the country and wished them success in their upcoming events.
India's Successful Start at the Asian Games
On the inaugural day of the Asian Games, India secured two medals and confirmed another. Elavenil Valarivan clinched a silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle individual event. Additionally, Valarivan, along with teammates Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod, earned silver in the team competition. Suchika Tariyal also guaranteed a medal by defeating Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa in the women's Traditional 60kg quarterfinal.
