Tensions Rise in Lok Sabha as Opposition Protests

New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has accused members of the Opposition of orchestrating a plan to confront the treasury benches during a session of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The session turned chaotic as female MPs from various Opposition parties advanced towards the treasury benches, brandishing banners just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to respond to the Motion of Thanks regarding the President's address.

At the time, the Prime Minister was absent, and BJP member P P Chaudhary was delivering his speech when Opposition members surged into the Well of the House, protesting against a trade agreement with the United States and the unpublished memoir of former Army Chief M M Naravane.

In a statement to reporters in the Parliament complex on Thursday, Singh remarked, "As soon as the clock struck 5, they entered. It was unprecedented to see Opposition members positioned in front of the treasury benches. This was clearly a tactic to launch an attack, nothing more."

He further criticized the Opposition for allegedly holding the Lok Sabha hostage for four consecutive days, asserting that they had premeditated their actions.
