Minister's Visit to Udaipur


On Saturday, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durga Das Uike, arrived in Udaipur for a two-day visit. During his stay, he conducted a comprehensive review of various tribal welfare schemes implemented by the central government at a state-level meeting held at the Manik Lal Verma Tribal Research Institute auditorium. He emphasized the importance of timely delivery of benefits from key initiatives such as the Dharati Aaba Gram Utkarsh campaign and PM Janman, instructing officials accordingly.


Key Attendees and Meeting Highlights

The meeting was attended by Tribal Regional Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasia, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, social worker Pushkar Teli, and other representatives and senior officials. The session commenced with the lighting of a lamp in front of the portrait of Dharati Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The divisional commissioner and TAD commissioner, along with other officials, welcomed the guests. A PowerPoint presentation was made by Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, showcasing the achievements of tribal upliftment schemes and innovations by the TAD department.


Focus on Effective Implementation

Minister Uike stated that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, significant efforts are being made for the holistic development of tribal communities. He urged officials to ensure that the benefits of every government scheme reach the most marginalized individuals, aiming for real and sustainable improvements in the lives of tribal families. He stressed the need for effective implementation, regular monitoring, and a results-oriented approach.


State Government's Commitment

Minister Kharadi reiterated the state government's commitment to the overall development of tribal areas. He noted that effective coordination between central and state government schemes has led to remarkable outcomes in education, health, livelihood, infrastructure, and social empowerment. He urged officials to maintain sensitivity, transparency, and quality in the implementation of these schemes. He also highlighted the completion of three years of the country's first Tribal Telemedicine Center in Abu Road, established with the support of AIIMS Jodhpur, and proposed the establishment of similar centers in Pratapgarh district.


Digital Library Agreement

An agreement was signed between the TRI and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for the establishment of a digital library for tribal children in Rajasthan. During the meeting, officials from both organizations exchanged signed documents in the presence of the Union Minister. TRI Director Jain mentioned that BSNL will set up the digital library on the TRI premises, which will aid tribal children in preparing for competitive exams.


Publication Launch and Studio Visit

Before the meeting, Minister Uike and other guests launched a booklet titled 'Hum Hain Badlav,' highlighting the achievements of the Navadi Reference Skill Program conducted in tribal ashram hostels and residential schools. Additionally, Minister Uike visited the Banphool Studio at the TRI premises, where he interacted with tribal artists, appreciating their skills and encouraging them to continue preserving and promoting tribal culture and folk art.


Support for Lacrosse Players

The Union Minister also met with lacrosse players from Rajasthan who are part of the national team, boosting their morale. During this interaction, Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani shared the efforts made by the state government, local representatives, and administration to support the players. The Minister wished the athletes success in their future endeavors and encouraged them to excel on the international stage.
