Harsh Criticism of Rahul Gandhi's Comments

The Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, strongly condemned Rahul Gandhi's remarks about Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu, labeling them as crossing all boundaries of decency and dignity. In a social media post, he expressed that it is unjust to make such statements against a Sikh leader merely for choosing the ideologies of the BJP, especially considering the historical atrocities faced by their ancestors at the hands of terrorists.

Puri emphasized that Rahul Gandhi's description of the respected Sikh leader as a 'traitor' is completely unacceptable. He suggested that Gandhi might harbor resentment towards Bittu for opting for the development policies of the Modi government over the directionless Congress party. However, this does not justify such derogatory remarks against a proud Sikh whose grandfather was a victim of terrorism.

He further stated that calling Ravneet Singh Bittu a traitor is an affront to the entire Sikh community. Referring to someone as a 'traitor friend' implies betrayal of one's country. While Gandhi may have had many traitorous friends, Bittu is not among them. Accusing a distinguished Sikh of treachery without any basis tarnishes the reputation of the entire Sikh community. The minister recalled the courage, patriotism, and sacrifices of the Sikh Gurus and their descendants in defending the nation, highlighting the message of peace and love for the motherland that Sikhism promotes.

Puri criticized the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, stating that such comments are disrespectful and dishonor all brave Sikh leaders. He remarked that before making such offensive statements, Gandhi should have been aware of the sacrifices made by the Sikh Gurus and their descendants in protecting Hinduism. He should also recognize the valor of Sikhs who have served in the armed forces to safeguard the sovereignty of India, before labeling a disciple of the Gurus as a 'traitor.'
