Unforgettable Memories of Dharmendra: A Jaipur Artist's Tribute
Cherished Memories of Dharmendra
Following the passing of legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, Jaipur-based artist Raj Jangid has shared several untold stories about him. Raj emphasized that Dharmendra was not only courageous and generous on screen but also in real life.
A Memorable Incident in Bengaluru
Recalling a particular incident, Raj mentioned that during the shooting of Prahlad Nihalani's film 'Aag Hi Aag' in Bengaluru, he visited the location where the iconic film 'Sholay' was filmed. The area, located 70-80 kilometers away, was transformed into the hideout of the infamous Gabbar Singh. The set was so well-constructed that it attracted settlers, leading to the establishment of the village 'Ramnagar,' which still exists today.
Dharmendra Stands Up to Troublemakers
According to Raj, during the shoot, a group of college students arrived on set, and one of them threw a stone that hit actor Shatrughan Sinha. At that moment, Dharmendra, along with fellow actors like Danny, Moushumi Chatterjee, Chunky Pandey, Richa Sharma, and others, were present. Upon learning of the incident, Dharmendra and fighter Usman Khan confronted the troublemakers and dealt with them.
Police Called to the Scene
Within hours, a crowd of 50 to 70 boys gathered and began throwing stones at the set, forcing the production team to halt filming. As the situation escalated, the team alerted the police, who arrived shortly after to ensure the safety of all cast and crew members.
A Generous Soul
Raj described Dharmendra as an incredibly kind-hearted individual. Anyone who came to him for help from their village in Mumbai never left empty-handed. He provided jobs to hundreds, bought taxis for some, and even helped others become fighters.
From Bhilwara to Mumbai
Raj shared that he traveled from Gulabpura village in Bhilwara to Mumbai as a child to audition for a role as young Dharmendra. Although he did not get that role, he had the opportunity to work alongside Dharmendra in films like 'Hukumat,' 'Kohraam,' 'Aag Hi Aag,' and 'Humse Na Takrana.' Raj Jangid paid heartfelt tribute to Dharmendra, calling him the most beautiful, stylish, and genuine hero of Indian cinema.
