United Nations: The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has expressed serious concerns regarding the rising tensions between the United States and Venezuela, particularly following the recent military actions that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. He described these events as setting a "dangerous precedent."

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Guterres conveyed his deep alarm over the escalating situation in Venezuela, especially the military intervention by the US, which he believes could have troubling consequences for the region.

He emphasized that regardless of the circumstances in Venezuela, these actions represent a significant breach of international law, which he finds deeply troubling.

Maduro, along with his wife, faces serious charges in New York, including narco-terrorism and conspiracy related to possessing destructive devices aimed at the US.

In a surprising announcement, former President Donald Trump revealed on Truth Social that the US had executed a large-scale military operation against Maduro, claiming that both he and his wife had been captured and removed from the country, with the operation conducted in collaboration with US law enforcement.

US Attorney General Pamela Bondi confirmed that Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York on multiple serious charges.

Bondi stated that they would soon confront the full extent of American justice in US courts, expressing gratitude to Trump for his decisive actions and to the military for their successful mission to apprehend the alleged international drug traffickers.

Guterres reiterated the necessity for all parties involved in Venezuela to adhere to international law and the UN Charter.

He urged all stakeholders in Venezuela to participate in inclusive dialogue that respects human rights and the rule of law.

UN human rights chief Volker Türk also voiced his concerns regarding the US intervention, calling for restraint and adherence to international human rights laws, emphasizing that the protection of Venezuelan citizens must be the priority in any future actions.
