The Boeing Dreamliner, which was en route to Gatwick Airport near London, tragically crashed shortly after departing from Ahmedabad Airport.
The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers and crew members, with reports indicating at least one survivor from the incident.
Additionally, at least five individuals lost their lives on the ground when the plane struck a medical college campus.
The aircraft had sent out a distress signal just before it began to descend rapidly, and investigators are currently focused on recovering the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, commonly referred to as black boxes, to piece together the final moments of the flight.
Indian Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, who promptly arrived at the crash site from Vijayawada, confirmed that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will lead the investigation.
