Campaigning in Tiruvallur
The Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK candidate for Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, Udhayanidhi Stalin, emphasized the party's past accomplishments and future commitments during a campaign event in Tiruvallur on Wednesday. Throughout his campaign, Stalin highlighted several initiatives by the DMK, including free bus services for women, complimentary meals for school children, distribution of laptops to college students, and new financial and household benefits for women.
Udhayanidhi stated, 'My leader M.K. Stalin and I stand proudly before the people during our campaign because we have fulfilled our electoral promises, such as providing free bus services for women and morning tiffins for school children. Recently, 1 million college students received free laptops... Our leader has now pledged to provide women with monthly support ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. We have also announced an ₹8,000 coupon for women to purchase their preferred electrical appliances for their homes.'
The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are set to take place in a single phase on April 23, with vote counting scheduled for May 4. The primary contest is anticipated to be between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The SPA includes the Indian National Congress, DMDK, and VCK, while the NDA comprises the BJP and its allied parties. Actor-turned-politician Vijay is also contesting with the TVK, potentially leading to a triangular contest.
Earlier, AIADMK candidate Rajasekaran conducted extensive door-to-door campaigning in the Palakkarai area of the Tiruchirappalli East Assembly constituency. He appealed for support from residents, accompanied by workers and leaders from alliance parties, including the BJP and AMMK.
