Udhayanidhi Stalin's Strong Remarks Against Opposition Leader
During an election campaign meeting in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, labeling him as a 'subservient slave' to the BJP. Speaking at a large public gathering near the Thiruvalluvar statue on March 31, Stalin remarked that while there are fervent devotees and passionate party workers, Palaniswami stands out as a devoted servant of the BJP. He further alleged that Palaniswami has succumbed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's influence and is actively working to promote the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
This event was organized in support of DMK candidate and Public Works Minister E.V. Velu, attracting thousands of party workers and members from allied parties, including Congress, MDMK, DMDK, VCK, CPI(M), and CPI. Udhayanidhi Stalin arrived in an open vehicle, urging voters to support the DMK's 'Rising Sun' symbol. In his address, he praised Velu's administrative skills and experience, recalling that both former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had acknowledged Velu's efficiency. He highlighted Velu's previous victory, which was by a significant margin of 95,000 votes, and encouraged voters to increase this margin to one lakh in the upcoming elections.
Stalin also highlighted the development projects completed in the constituency over the past five years, including the renovation of bus stands, the conversion of roads into four-lane highways, the establishment of an integrated education office, the construction of a government model school building at a cost of ₹56 crore, the restoration of canals, improvements to hospital infrastructure, sanitation initiatives, a public grievance redressal center, paved roads around temples, and tourism-related infrastructure such as an international conference hall.
He mentioned the welfare schemes implemented by the DMK government, such as free bus travel for women, a breakfast scheme for school students, the Pudhumai Pen scheme for girls, financial assistance for youth, employment programs, free laptops for students, and financial support for women. Stalin accused opposition parties of attempting to obstruct these initiatives through legal challenges but assured that the government has ensured payments to beneficiaries.
