Udhampur Police Seizes Property Linked to Terrorism Under UAPA

Property Attachment Under UAPA

In a notable enforcement action under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967, Udhampur Police has attached a piece of land associated with Mohd Shafiq, son of Nazir Ahmed, who is currently in judicial custody. This property, identified by Khasra No. 232, has been linked to ongoing investigations into terror-related activities.

The attachment was executed under Section 25 of the UAPA, in relation to Case FIR No. 23/2024, which was filed at the Basantgarh Police Station. The property was pinpointed during the investigation as being connected to terrorist operations.

According to the order from the Investigating Officer, the land is now legally prohibited from being sold, leased, or transferred, and cannot be involved in any third-party transactions. Shafiq was apprehended last year due to his connections with terrorist groups, leading to multiple charges under the UAPA at the Basantgarh police station.

Officials confirmed that the land, valued at several lakhs, will remain under legal restrictions as investigations continue. This action is part of a larger initiative by Jammu and Kashmir Police aimed at dismantling terror financing and logistical networks in the area.

Mohd Shafiq continues to be held in judicial custody, and law enforcement anticipates that further assets or individuals may be uncovered as the investigation advances. Authorities are committed to combating terrorism financing and support systems within the region.

Remand Granted in Pahalgam Terror Attack Case

On Monday, a Jammu court approved a five-day remand for two individuals arrested in connection with the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The accused, Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmed, were presented before the court, where the Additional District and Session Judge granted the remand, scheduling the next hearing for June 27, 2025.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended these two suspects, who are believed to have harbored terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack that tragically resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.
