Thackeray's Strong Remarks Against PM Modi
Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for engaging with party MPs who have joined the faction led by Eknath Shinde. He pointed out that while the Prime Minister finds time to meet with 'traitors', he neglects the youth who are protesting. This statement came after Modi held a breakfast meeting with MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday morning.
Concerns Over Supreme Court Influence
Following the meeting, Shinde and six new MPs from his party met with the Prime Minister. During a press conference in Mumbai, Uddhav raised concerns about whether this meeting was an attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court, especially as the court is currently hearing petitions challenging the Election Commission's decision to recognize Shinde's faction as the 'real Shiv Sena'.
Confidence in the Judiciary
Uddhav expressed his belief that the Supreme Court's ruling would be based on constitutional principles. He remarked, 'The Prime Minister has no time to meet with the youth, yet he engages with traitors, assuring them of his support.' He questioned the rationale behind the meeting with 'traitors' while the matter is pending in the highest court.
Political Climate and Youth Protests
He further inquired whether the Prime Minister was attempting to intimidate the judiciary or other political leaders. Uddhav described the current political climate as 'the calm before the storm' and noted that the protests by Generation Z have significantly unsettled the government. He referenced police actions during a recent protest by the Cockroach Public Party (CAZPA), stating, 'The world is discussing how Generation Z has forced the government to kneel.'
Call for Change
Uddhav emphasized that it is time for a change in government. He also criticized Modi for allegedly running the country through Instagram, suggesting that the Prime Minister is avoiding direct engagement with the future of the nation. He mentioned that the youth are not willing to listen to the RSS chief and urged the Jharkhand government to engage in dialogue with protesting students.
Ongoing Protests in Jharkhand
In Jharkhand, the government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren held discussions with a group of protesters led by Devendra Nath Mahato regarding a purported question paper leak. However, the deadlock remains unresolved as the protesters have decided to continue their movement until all their demands are met.
