Police Encounter in Narela Leads to Injuries

Late Wednesday night, a police encounter in the Narela area of outer North Delhi resulted in injuries to two wanted criminals. A police official provided this information on Thursday.


The injured individuals have been identified as 34-year-old Afzal, also known as Imran, and 31-year-old Chandan, also referred to as Kaku, both residents of Narela.


According to police reports, they received credible information that Chandan, wanted in a case of attempted murder, was roaming the area on a motorcycle armed with a weapon alongside an accomplice.


Based on this intelligence, the police team initiated a search operation and set up a blockade near NIT, Narela.


During the investigation, when the police signaled the two motorcycle riders to stop, they attempted to flee and fired three shots at the officers.


In response, the police fired back in self-defense, injuring the suspects in their legs.


Both individuals were initially taken to RHC Hospital and later referred to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Hospital for further treatment.


From the scene, police recovered two pistols, five cartridges, two mobile phones, and the motorcycle.


Authorities noted that Chandan is a declared criminal with a history of serious offenses, including attempted murder, robbery, and theft.


Similarly, Afzal is also a known criminal in the area, facing multiple charges, including assault on a government employee, robbery, violations of the Arms Act, and POCSO Act.


The police have registered a case against the suspects under various relevant sections, including attempted murder and obstruction of government work.
