Encounter in Bokaro District

In a significant operation on Wednesday morning, security forces in Bokaro district, Jharkhand, engaged in a confrontation that resulted in the deaths of two Naxalites. Unfortunately, a member of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also lost his life during the encounter, as reported by local police.


The clash began around 5:30 AM in the Birhor Dera forest area, located within the jurisdiction of the Gomia police station.


Kranti Kumar Gadidesi, the Inspector General of Police for the Bokaro zone, confirmed that the security personnel successfully neutralized two Naxalites during the operation. He also noted the tragic loss of a CRPF Cobra Battalion soldier in the skirmish.


Following the encounter, Harvinder Singh, the Superintendent of Police for Bokaro, informed that search operations are ongoing in the vicinity.


Earlier, on April 21, 2025, a joint operation involving the CRPF and Jharkhand police led to the elimination of eight suspected Maoists, including a high-ranking leader of the banned group, who was carrying a bounty of ₹1 crore.


Government Response

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media platform 'X' to express that the campaign against Naxalism continues unabated. He highlighted the recent success of security forces in Bokaro, where eight Maoists were killed, including a notorious leader named Vivek, who had a ₹1 crore reward on his head, along with two other infamous Naxalites. The operation is still in progress, and he urged appreciation for the efforts of the security forces.


A CRPF official revealed that the 209th Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (Cobra) collaborated with state police in the operation, resulting in the deaths of eight Naxalites. The forces also seized an AK-series rifle, three INSAS rifles, a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), eight country-made firearms, and a pistol.
