Arrests Made in Manipur for Alleged Extortion

Security forces have apprehended two militants linked to banned organizations in Manipur, accused of involvement in extortion activities. The police reported this development on Monday.


A member of the banned United National Liberation Front (Pambei) was arrested on Saturday from Mayang Infal Bengoon Makha Leikai in the Imphal West district. The individual has been identified as Khullakpam Ayazuddin, aged 40, and is alleged to have participated in extortion within the Mayang Infal area.


Additionally, an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) was detained on Sunday from the Hapata Kangjeibung region in Imphal East district. This individual has been identified as Athokpam Sunil, 43, and is accused of extorting money from local traders.
