Arrests Made in Connection with Recent Shootings

In a significant development, law enforcement officials have apprehended two militants linked to a banned organization following shooting incidents that occurred two days ago in Imphal West district, Manipur. The police disclosed this information on Sunday.


A senior police officer revealed that the two members of the banned KCP (Noyon) were taken into custody on Saturday from the Sagolband and Fumlu areas of the district. The shootings took place on January 9 in the Langjing Achoba, Ghari, and Sangai Prabhu regions.


The officer further explained that the Manipur police conducted extensive search operations across various locations and analyzed CCTV footage from the areas. He stated, 'Both militants were arrested after their involvement in the shootings was confirmed. A loaded M-20 pistol was recovered from them.'


Additionally, the officer noted that these individuals had previously been implicated in at least eight shooting incidents. In a separate operation, security forces also seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition from Awalmun village in Kangpokpi district on Saturday.
