Two Girls Allegedly Raped in Odisha: One Gives Birth to Stillborn
Alarming Incidents in Malkangiri District
In Malkangiri district of Odisha, two girls have reportedly been victims of sexual assault in separate incidents, with one girl giving birth to a stillborn child. This information was disclosed by the police on Sunday.
Rashmiranjan Senapati, the Additional Superintendent of Police, confirmed that two individuals have been apprehended in connection with these cases. The first incident occurred on July 20 in a village under the jurisdiction of the Orkel police station.
According to police reports, the girl was on her way home with her uncle when a 50-year-old man offered her a ride on his motorcycle. He allegedly took her to a forested area where the assault took place.
The girl informed her family about the incident the following day, prompting them to alert the local villagers. In a complaint filed by her uncle on Saturday, he stated that since the villagers were unable to take action, he decided to approach the police.
ASP Senapati mentioned that the suspect was arrested on Sunday. The second case emerged from the Mudulipada police station area, where it is alleged that a man had been raping the victim since 2024. This situation came to light when she recently gave birth to a stillborn child at a government hospital.
Following this revelation, her family lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
