Two Arrested in Punjab for Alleged Espionage for Pakistan's ISI
Arrests Made in Espionage Case
Authorities in Punjab have apprehended two individuals on charges of spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). This information was confirmed by a senior police official on Sunday.
Police Chief Gaurav Yadav identified the suspects as Gurpreet Singh, also known as Gopi Fauji, and Sahil Masiha. He mentioned in a post on social media platform 'X' that the arrests were made based on reliable intelligence, leading to an operation by the Amritsar rural police.
Initial investigations revealed that Singh was allegedly in direct contact with ISI operatives and is suspected of sharing sensitive and classified information via a pen drive. Yadav further stated that the primary ISI operator involved in the case has been identified as Rana Javed.
Additionally, two mobile phones used to communicate with ISI agents have been confiscated. The investigation is ongoing, aiming to dismantle the extensive espionage-terrorism network and identify all accomplices involved.
