Bag Snatching Incident in North Delhi

In a shocking incident near the Red Fort in North Delhi, two individuals on a scooter reportedly snatched a bag from a 63-year-old woman traveling in an auto-rickshaw. An official provided details about the incident on Tuesday.


The suspects have been identified as 31-year-old Arijit Arora and 33-year-old Ravi Malik, both of whom were apprehended on Sunday evening. According to police reports, the victim, a resident of Civil Lines, was returning home from Daryaganj around 10:30 AM when the accused approached her auto-rickshaw. The person sitting at the back of the scooter snatched her bag, which contained ₹20,000 in cash, a silver chain, and important documents.


The woman works as a freelance beautician. During the incident, she fell from the moving auto-rickshaw and sustained injuries. Authorities confirmed that she was admitted to Tirath Ram Hospital for treatment.


An official stated that a case has been registered at the Kotwali police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation was initiated, leading to the arrest of both suspects.


During interrogation, the accused confessed to their crime, revealing their addiction to drugs. Police have recovered the stolen bag, ₹6,000 in cash, and the scooter used in the robbery. The suspects allegedly spent the remaining money on drugs and other items.
