TVK Leader Vijay Claims to Form Government in Tamil Nadu After Assembly Elections

Vijay Meets Governor to Present Government Formation Claim

In the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Vijay, the leader of the Tamilaga Vetrik Kadagam (TVK), met with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Tuesday to assert his party's claim to form the government in the state. The meeting took place at the Lok Bhavan.

The results of the assembly elections, announced on Monday, revealed that Vijay's TVK secured victory in 108 out of the 234 seats available in the state assembly. A total of 118 seats is required for a majority.

The Congress party has publicly declared its support for TVK, although it remains unclear which other parties may extend their backing to Vijay's faction.

According to sources within TVK, Vijay is expected to take the oath of office as Chief Minister on May 7. In the assembly elections, the DMK won 59 seats, the AIADMK secured 47, while Congress, PMK, IUML, CPI, VCK, and CPI(M) won five, four, two, two, two, and two seats respectively. The BJP, DMDK, and AMMK each managed to win one seat.
