The local governor, Mukerrem Unluer, confirmed that the shooter was a student from the same institution, who allegedly used a firearm belonging to his father, hidden in a backpack, to execute the attack. Sanliurfa Governor Hasan Sildak reported that the shooter later took his own life. It was revealed that he was a former student of the school, born in 2007.
