Tulsi Gabbard Resigns as DNI Amid Family Health Crisis
Unexpected Praise from Iran Following Gabbard's Resignation
Tulsi Gabbard's resignation from her role as the US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) has elicited varied reactions across the political landscape in the United States. Notably, the Iranian Embassy in Armenia expressed unexpected admiration for Gabbard, commending her for articulating truths about Iran that President Trump was reluctant to acknowledge. In a post on X, the embassy stated, “We wish Abraham a swift and complete recovery. You have previously shown at times that you work for America and not Israel, and sometimes you spoke truths about Iran that Trump hated. It was a pity that someone like you worked with this government, which has sidelined America and is a proxy for Israel. Best wishes.”

This reaction followed Gabbard's announcement on Friday that she would step down from her position to support her husband, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. She conveyed her decision to President Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office, with her last day in office set for June 30.

'Tulsi Did An Incredible Job': Trump
In response to Gabbard's resignation, President Trump praised her contributions, stating that she had performed exceptionally well in her role. He also announced that Aaron Lukas, her Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, would take over as Acting DNI. “Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th. Her wonderful husband, Abraham, has been recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and she, rightfully, wants to be with him, bringing him back to good health as they currently fight a tough battle together. I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever. Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her,” Trump remarked.
Vice President JD Vance referred to Gabbard as “a patriot” and commended her service in the administration. “Tulsi is a patriot, a great asset to the administration, and a dear friend. I'm sorry to see her go, but certainly understand that family comes first. She and her husband Abraham will be in my prayers as they face this next challenge together, and she has my gratitude for being a great addition to the administration and a loyal confidante. Godspeed Tulsi!” Vance posted on X.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche also expressed his support, stating, “Our hearts and prayers are with Abraham and Tulsi. Thank you both for your service and sacrifice to our country.” Erika Kirk, CEO of Turning Point, shared her sentiments, saying, “My heart is deeply with Tulsi and Abraham. Praying for God to surround them with strength, wisdom, and divine peace.”
