Tucker Carlson Alleges CIA Criminal Referral Over Iran Communications
Tucker Carlson's Claims of CIA Actions
Tucker Carlson has recently asserted that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is preparing to file a criminal referral against him. He alleges that agency officials accessed his text messages exchanged with individuals in Iran prior to the recent military actions involving the US and Israel. During his Saturday broadcast, the former Fox News anchor stated that the CIA intends to submit what he referred to as 'some kind of criminal referral' to the Department of Justice.
"I discovered that the CIA is getting ready to file a criminal report against me, based on an alleged crime I supposedly committed," Carlson remarked. He indicated that the supposed offense pertains to his communications with Iranian contacts before the conflict escalated. "What’s the alleged crime? Simply talking to people in Iran before the war. They accessed my messages," he added.
Carlson speculated that the potential charge might relate to the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which mandates that individuals acting on behalf of foreign entities disclose their affiliations. "The crime under consideration seems to be linked to the Foreign Agent Act or something similar, acting as an agent for a foreign power," he noted.
Despite these claims, Carlson expressed skepticism about the likelihood of facing actual criminal charges. "I don’t anticipate this leading to any criminal case. I’m not overly concerned about being charged for various reasons," he stated, emphasizing that he is "not an agent of a foreign power" and has "never accepted money from anyone." He did not provide any evidence to substantiate his assertion regarding the CIA or Justice Department's actions, and there has been no official confirmation from either agency regarding his claims.
His statements have sparked considerable online discussion, with some speculating about the possibility of his arrest. However, no formal charges have been brought against Carlson, and he has only suggested that charges could be a possibility in the future. This controversy arises as Carlson has recently been vocal about his disagreements with US President Donald Trump on various matters, including the situation in Iran. Trump has previously criticized Carlson for his views on the conflict, stating, "Tucker has lost his way. He’s not MAGA." Additionally, Carlson has questioned US foreign policy, pondering whether financial support for foreign allies aligns with the 'America First' doctrine. "Is it ‘America First’ to accept funds from a foreign lobby to send taxpayer money to that nation?" he questioned at a December conference. "Even the question itself seems to provide the answer."
