Trust's Move Towards Professional Management

According to Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, the treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the organization is contemplating the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to enhance its operational management. Maharaj emphasized that the recent challenges faced by the Trust stemmed from the absence of a CEO, which is crucial for maintaining the professional bureaucratic discipline necessary for oversight. He noted that the lack of such professional management led to the current issues, prompting the decision to appoint a CEO. A committee has been established to recommend three candidates for the position, from which one will be selected.

Committee's Role and Trust's Integrity

This committee is tasked with identifying potential candidates, which will guide the Trust in finalizing the appointment. Maharaj expressed confidence in Champat Rai, who recently resigned from the position of General Secretary on ethical grounds. He stated that there is no doubt about Rai's integrity, but acknowledged that there were lapses in hiring practices under his oversight. Maharaj clarified that while he believes Rai is innocent, it is important to recognize that he may have been negligent in his duties, particularly in hiring a criminal as his driver, who had control over critical operations.

Driver's Alleged Role in Misappropriation

Govind Maharaj directly attributed the alleged misappropriation of temple donations to the driver, Ram Yadav (also known as Tinnu Yadav). He suggested that the driver might have been influenced by external parties to commit theft. Maharaj expressed his suspicion that the driver had connections with outsiders who may have incited him to act inappropriately. He lamented that such activities were occurring without anyone's knowledge, which is a source of distress and embarrassment for the Trust.
