Trump's Ominous Warning Amid Rising Tensions with Iran
Escalating Tensions Between the US and Iran
Washington DC: On Wednesday evening, US President Donald Trump shared a cryptic message as tensions with Iran intensified. His post, which stated, “THE STORM IS COMING,” mirrors the foreboding phrase “winter is coming” from the popular series Game of Thrones, suggesting an impending crisis. This statement appears to serve as a warning directed at Iran. Trump further emphasized his message with an AI-generated image of himself alongside the text. However, there has been no official announcement regarding any military actions planned by the US against Iran.
Trump's remarks followed reports that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) had devised strategies for a “short and powerful” series of strikes aimed at Iran's critical infrastructure. According to Axios, these strikes are intended to compel Tehran to engage in negotiations.
Iran Responds to Trump's Threats: In response, Iran's Parliament Speaker, MB Ghalibaf, ridiculed Trump for his threats regarding the destruction of Tehran's oil pipelines if a ceasefire agreement was not reached. Ghalibaf pointed out in a post on X that despite Trump's warnings, no oil wells had been destroyed. He cautioned that a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz could drive oil prices up to USD 140 per barrel. Ghalibaf criticized the Trump administration for receiving “junk” advice from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding the blockade in this vital waterway, which previously accounted for 20% of the global crude oil and liquefied natural gas trade before the onset of the Iran war on February 28.
On April 26, Trump had claimed that Iran's oil infrastructure could face destruction within three days due to mechanical failures stemming from the US blockade on vessels in the Strait.
