Trump to Make Long-Awaited Return to PGA Tour Event at Doral

Trump's Upcoming PGA Tour Appearance

This weekend, former US President Donald Trump is set to attend a PGA Tour event at Trump National Doral, marking his first participation in nearly ten years. The Cadillac Championship, which will wrap up on Sunday, is notable as it is the first PGA Tour event hosted at one of Trump's golf courses since 2016, when the WGC-Cadillac Championship was last held at Doral before its relocation to Mexico.

As per temporary flight restrictions, Trump is anticipated to arrive in Miami on Saturday evening and will leave on Sunday night. He usually stays at his Doral resort during such visits. This occasion also coincides with the recent unveiling of a large statue of Trump on the premises. The bronze sculpture, standing 15 feet tall and weighing 3.1 tons, is known as the "Don Colossus" and is situated near the walkway connecting the first tee and the driving range.

Trump's last attendance at a PGA Tour event was in 2016, after which the tournament was moved following Cadillac's withdrawal as the title sponsor. His relationship with the PGA Tour has been rocky since then, especially with the rise of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit, which has hosted several events at his courses, including multiple tournaments at Doral starting in 2022. In April 2025, Trump was present at a LIV Golf event at Doral, arriving via helicopter and interacting with fans before dining with players.

Recently, the future of LIV Golf has come under scrutiny due to reports suggesting that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund intends to pull its financial backing after the 2026 season. In light of this, Trump has expressed renewed support for the PGA Tour, as it returns to one of his venues for the first time in almost a decade. Earlier in the weekend, he is also expected to attend an event at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, hosted by the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, before heading to Miami.
