Trump to Host Pakistan's Army Chief Amid Protests in Washington

Trump's Lunch Meeting with General Asim Munir
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump is set to have lunch with General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan. This meeting is part of Trump's schedule, which indicates that Munir is currently visiting the United States. During his trip, Munir encountered protests from Pakistani expatriates and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party on Monday.
Protesters gathered in Washington DC, chanting slogans such as "Pakistanio ke Qatil" and "Islamabad ke Qatil" as Munir arrived at an event. Footage of these demonstrations has circulated widely on social media.
Nazia Imtiaz Hussain, who identifies herself as the Executive Director of The Alliance Organisation, expressed her discontent on social media, stating that the protests were against the "criminal dictator of Pakistan" and criticized those who supported him.
In her post, Hussain condemned the attendees, saying, "We’re here to protest the criminal dictator of Pakistan. Shame on every bootlicker who showed up in support of fascism—you didn’t just betray democracy; you spit on the suffering of millions."
The PTI USA group also shared videos of the protests, where Pakistani-Americans demonstrated against General Munir outside the Four Seasons Hotel.
They highlighted their grievances, stating, "Pakistani-Americans in Washington, DC are protesting outside the Four Seasons hotel, reminding General Asim Munir of the crimes he’s committed against the people of Pakistan."
Meanwhile, President Trump is also dealing with escalating tensions in West Asia. On Tuesday, he called for an "unconditional surrender" from Iran and held discussions with his national security team.
In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the US has "complete and total control of the skies over Iran" and asserted knowledge of the location of Iran's Supreme Leader. He warned that "our patience is wearing thin" and reiterated his demand for "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!"
Interestingly, General Asim Munir and Pakistan have been vocal supporters of Iran. During a speech in Washington DC, Munir expressed his country's solidarity with Iran, hoping for a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict.
Israel has conducted multiple airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, leading to retaliatory actions from Tehran. Trump has consistently voiced his support for Israel, stressing that Iran must not be permitted to develop nuclear capabilities.
