Trump's Upcoming Visit to India

President Donald Trump of the United States is set to visit India for the forthcoming Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) meeting. This announcement was made by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited Trump to the country. Trump has accepted the invitation and expressed enthusiasm about his upcoming trip.

Vikram Misri stated, "For the next QUAD meeting, PM Modi invited President Trump to India. Upon accepting the invitation, President Trump conveyed his excitement about visiting India."

Details of the Leaders' Communication

Misri also mentioned that Trump inquired whether PM Modi could make a stop in the US while returning from Canada. However, due to existing commitments, Modi indicated that he would not be able to do so.

"President Trump asked PM Modi if he would stop in the US on his way back from Canada. Due to prior engagements, PM Modi expressed his inability to do so. Both leaders agreed to find a time to meet in the near future," Misri added.

Leaders' Telephonic Conversation

The Foreign Secretary further elaborated that the two leaders were supposed to meet during the G7 Summit, but Trump had to leave early, preventing the meeting from occurring. Instead, they engaged in a phone conversation that lasted approximately 35 minutes.

"PM Modi and President Trump were scheduled to meet at the G7 Summit. However, President Trump had to return to the US prematurely, which led to the cancellation of the meeting. Following this, at Trump's request, both leaders spoke over the phone. They discussed various topics for nearly 35 minutes. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, President Trump had previously spoken with PM Modi to express his condolences and support in combating terrorism. This was their first conversation since that incident, where PM Modi provided detailed insights on Operation Sindoor," Misri explained.
