Trump Highlights Eye Surgery Support During Angel Families Ceremony
Trump's Remarks at the Angel Families Remembrance Ceremony
During a recent Angel Families Remembrance Ceremony at the White House, US President Donald Trump took a moment to acknowledge Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, for whom he had facilitated eye surgery. Trump mentioned that he had provided significant financial assistance for her treatment, humorously noting that the doctor had "ripped him off." He explained that he had sought out a high-priced specialist because Morin was nearly blind, stating, "I gave her a lot of money to get her eyes fixed. That doctor ripped me off. But that’s OK," he quipped.
Morin shared that her surgery had been postponed, attributing the delay to the emotional toll of her daughter's tragic murder. Rachel Morin was brutally killed by Salvadoran national Victor Martinez-Hernandez in August 2023, who is set to serve a life sentence without parole starting in 2025.
Trump assured Morin that her vision would improve, saying, "You're going to have 20/20 vision. You know she's almost blind. Cataracts. She's almost blind. He's an expensive doctor. Top of the line, right? But you know what? You're going to have 20/20 vision."

Trump's Commitment to Angel Families
In his address to families who have lost loved ones to crimes involving undocumented immigrants, Trump characterized the event as deeply significant, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their pain and loss. He announced that February 22 would be designated as National Angel Family Day, a proclamation that had faced previous delays due to legal hurdles but is now officially recognized.
Trump also took the opportunity to criticize the immigration policies of the previous administration, claiming that the Biden administration had allowed nearly 12,000 murderers into the country. He asserted that border enforcement has been enhanced since his administration took office, citing the Laken Riley Act as a key legislative measure that led to numerous immigration-related arrests.
