Trump Faces Backlash Over AI-Generated Jesus Image
Trump Shares Controversial AI Image
On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image showing Jesus embracing him, shortly after receiving criticism for a previous post that depicted him in a Christ-like manner. The image, initially shared on X by one of his supporters, was later reposted by Trump on his Truth Social account. He captioned it, stating, “The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!!” This latest image follows a Sunday post where Trump was portrayed in flowing robes, seemingly healing a sick individual, with light beams radiating from his hands. The artwork also included patriotic elements like the US flag, the Statue of Liberty, and eagles, enhancing its symbolic message.
Mixed Reactions to Trump's Posts
Backlash From Across The Spectrum
The earlier image sparked significant backlash, with some conservative Christian groups accusing Trump of blasphemy, while liberal commentators labeled the imagery as “egomaniacal.” By Monday morning, the controversial image had been taken down from his Truth Social account. In response to the uproar, Trump defended his post, claiming it was meant to depict him as a healer. “I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor… it’s supposed to be me making people better. And I do make people better. A lot better,” he stated, dismissing the criticism as “fake news,” despite ongoing backlash from various groups.
Trump's Criticism of the Pope
Pope Responds: ‘We Are Not Politicians’
This controversial post came after Trump launched a scathing attack on the American-born pope, who has criticized US foreign policy, particularly regarding military actions related to Iran and immigration. On Truth Social, Trump described the pope as “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy,” stating, “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a nuclear weapon.” He also defended US actions in Venezuela, accusing the nation of exporting crime to the US.
In response, during a flight to Algeria, Pope Leo XIV addressed Trump’s remarks without escalating the situation. He stated, “To put my message on the same plane… is not understanding the Gospel,” emphasizing that his views are based on Christian principles rather than political agendas. Quoting the Gospel, he reiterated, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” reaffirming his dedication to peace, dialogue, and reconciliation.
