Trump Declares It’s 'Too Late' for Iran to Negotiate Amid Rising Tensions

Escalating Tensions in West Asia

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump of the United States stated that it is now “too late” for Iran to pursue negotiations, following a joint military operation with Israel targeting Tehran amidst escalating tensions in West Asia.

In a post on social media, Trump asserted that Iran's air defense systems, Navy, Air Force, and leadership have been severely compromised.

He remarked, “They want to talk. I said ‘Too Late’.”

The post referenced an opinion article in The Washington Post discussing what it termed the “birth of the Trump Doctrine.”

In a formal communication to Congress, Trump indicated that under his directive, US military forces executed precision strikes on Saturday against various Iranian targets, including ballistic missile sites and command facilities, as reported by a Media Channel.

He emphasized that these strikes were intended to safeguard US forces and the homeland, while also ensuring the uninterrupted flow of maritime commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, in collective self-defense of regional allies like Israel.

No ground troops were deployed, and the operation was structured to minimize civilian casualties, deter future threats, and neutralize Iran's harmful activities, according to the Media Channel.

The conflict escalated on Saturday when Israel and the US initiated a joint operation against the Iranian regime, claiming its actions posed an “existential threat to Israel.” Israel has alleged that Iran is “closer than ever” to acquiring a nuclear weapon, which could disrupt the regional security landscape.

Iran has consistently asserted that its nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes.

In the attacks, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, a significant event given his control over all government branches and military forces since 1989, which further intensified the already precarious situation in the region.

On Monday, Trump indicated that the military actions against Iran might extend beyond a month. He noted that the conflict was progressing “substantially” ahead of schedule, but assured that the US is prepared for a prolonged engagement.
