Trump's Assertion on Conflict Resolution

On Tuesday night, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his involvement in averting the recent conflict between India and Pakistan, suggesting that the confrontation could have escalated into a "nuclear war." During a welcoming ceremony at the White House, Trump stated, "We have stopped wars between India and Pakistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda."

Claims of Military Engagement

Trump asserted that five aircraft were downed during the military tensions between India and Pakistan, claiming he intervened to halt this 'war.' He emphasized that the conflict had the potential to escalate into a nuclear confrontation. At the event held at the White House, he remarked, "We have prevented wars between India and Pakistan, as well as between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda."

Direct Communication to Leaders

Referring to the military engagement, Trump mentioned, "They shot down five planes... I called them and said, 'Listen, no more business. If you continue this, it won't benefit you.'... Both are powerful nuclear nations, and who knows what the outcome could have been. I stopped it."

U.S. Diplomatic Efforts

The U.S. President also claimed that America had dismantled Iran's entire nuclear capability and had intervened to halt the conflict between Kosovo and Serbia. Trump has frequently stated that he played a crucial role in stopping military confrontations between India and Pakistan through diplomatic channels. He first mentioned the downing of five planes during the conflict last Friday.

Support from U.S. Diplomats

Meanwhile, the top U.S. diplomat at the United Nations emphasized on Tuesday that the Trump administration has contributed to reducing tensions between India and Pakistan. She highlighted America's commitment to mediating disputes and promoting peaceful resolutions globally. Acting U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Dorothy Shea, spoke during an open debate on multilateralism and peaceful dispute resolution, stating, "The U.S. continues to work towards finding peaceful solutions with parties involved in global disputes whenever possible."

Recent Developments in the UN

During a council meeting chaired by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Shea noted that in just the past three months, U.S. leadership has successfully reduced tensions between Israel and Iran, Congo and Rwanda, as well as India and Pakistan.

Concerns Over Terrorism

India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, addressed the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam during his statement in the UNSC chamber. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, mostly tourists, was claimed by a front organization of the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, known as 'The Resistance Front.'
