Trump Claims Major Attack on Iran's Navy
Trump's Bold Assertion
In New Delhi, former U.S. President Donald Trump has made a significant claim regarding a large-scale attack by the American military on Iran. He stated that Iran's navy is now at the bottom of the sea, with the U.S. having destroyed 158 of its vessels.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned that any Iranian ship approaching their blockade would be immediately eliminated.
Trump elaborated that the Iranian navy is effectively incapacitated, with 158 ships completely destroyed. He noted that the only vessels not targeted were a small number of what Iran refers to as 'fast attack ships,' which he deemed not a significant threat.
He cautioned Iran, stating, 'If any of these ships come near our blockade, they will be swiftly eliminated, just as we deal with those trafficking drugs at sea.'
Trump further emphasized the effectiveness of this approach, mentioning that 98.2% of drug shipments entering the U.S. via sea routes have now been halted.
‘No Right to Block Hormuz’
In a related statement, the head of the UN's maritime agency remarked that no nation has the legal authority to obstruct shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. This comment came just before the U.S. military's actions against the Iranian navy.
Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), stated at a press conference, 'According to international law, no country has the right to impede the innocent passage or freedom of navigation through international straits used for international transit.'
