Simmons delivered two bags filled with burgers and fries, with the White House noting that she saved $11,000 in taxes due to the new policy. DoorDash encountered criticism on social media, particularly regarding Simmons' previous testimony before Congress in July, where she advocated for the "no tax on tips" policy. Although she initially lived in Nevada, she has since relocated to Arkansas and briefly worked as a DoorDash driver in the DC area.

In response to the backlash, DoorDash spokesperson Julian Crowley clarified on social media, stating, "No one is claiming it was a real delivery. It was clearly a planned event to highlight a new policy. To suggest Sharon is merely a prop or an actor is completely inaccurate.
