Significant Discussion on Middle East Crisis
New Delhi. Amidst the tangled issues in West Asia, U.S. President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. They engaged in a productive discussion regarding the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
Following the call, PM Modi took to social media to share, “President Trump called me, and we had a fruitful discussion about the situation in West Asia. India is committed to supporting the de-escalation of tensions and the restoration of peace in the region. Keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, safe, and accessible is crucial for the entire world. We agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts for peace and stability.”
Information from Sergio Gore
Sergio Gore, the U.S. Ambassador to India, confirmed that “President Donald Trump just spoke with Prime Minister Modi. Both leaders discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.”
According to sources from the Ministry of External Affairs, both leaders agreed to maintain communication to resolve this crisis. India’s stance is clear: no party should close the Strait of Hormuz, as it would severely impact global oil supply and trade. This conversation took place at a time when tensions in West Asia are at a peak.
Threats to Regional Stability and Global Economy
The escalating tensions between Iran, the U.S., and Israel pose significant threats to both regional stability and the global economy. Since the onset of the current disputes in West Asia, PM Modi has engaged in discussions with the top leaders of nearly every major country in the region.
These discussions included meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian (twice), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, as well as the President of France and the Prime Minister of Malaysia. In every conversation, the Indian PM has emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the existing tensions.
