Tripura Village Committee Elections: Vote Counting Set for October 5

Additionally, preparations for upcoming urban local body elections are underway, with a draft electoral roll published indicating over 631,000 eligible voters. Claims and objections can be submitted until October 8, with the final roll due on October 15.

Agartala, Oct 3: The Tripura State Election Commission is all set for the counting of votes from the Village Committee elections, which will take place on October 5. This process will occur at 45 designated centers throughout the state, ensuring strict security measures are in place.


Anurag Sen, Secretary of the State Election Commission, mentioned that counting will be conducted across 44 blocks, with the arrangement of 45 counting centers. Most blocks will feature a single counting hall, while the Manu block will have two due to a higher number of seats.


Sen emphasized that all necessary preparations have been made to facilitate a smooth counting process. The counting will occur at block headquarters or other locations specified by the respective Returning Officers.


The Village Committee elections took place on September 28, and personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be present at the counting centers to ensure law and order, allowing the counting to proceed without interruptions.


Results will be announced by the respective Returning Officers as counting concludes in their areas.


In addition, the State Election Commission is gearing up for the upcoming urban local body elections in Tripura, with efforts underway to finalize electoral arrangements.


Polling stations have been established for 21 urban local bodies, totaling 783 stations. The draft electoral roll for these civic elections was released on October 1.


The draft roll indicates a total electorate of 631,388, which includes 308,983 male voters, 322,360 female voters, and 45 voters identifying as third-gender. Eligible voters can review the draft electoral roll at specified locations and are encouraged to submit any claims or objections within the designated timeframe.


The deadline for submitting claims and objections is set for October 8, with the final electoral roll expected to be published on October 15.
