Tripura Police Detain Man for Allegedly Offensive Facebook Post About Amit Shah

Arrest of Jahiruddin in Tripura
On Monday, authorities in Tripura apprehended a man for allegedly sharing inappropriate content regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Facebook, according to reports from a local news outlet.
In recent days, over 30 individuals have been detained across the North East for similar social media activities following the Pahalgam terror incident.
The arrested individual, identified as Jahiruddin, resides in Durganagar, located in the Sepahijala district. His arrest followed a tip-off received by the police concerning the objectionable material.
According to an unnamed officer from the Bishalgarh police station, "His mobile device has been confiscated, and a case has been filed. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow."
Just a day prior, another individual was taken into custody in Churaibari, North Tripura, for posting content deemed offensive towards the Border Security Force.
Following the Pahalgam attack, the Tripura Police had issued a warning against the dissemination of false or inflammatory messages on social media platforms.
The advisory stated, "We have noticed that some individuals are spreading misleading and provocative messages online. Strict legal measures will be enforced against those participating in such activities."

The recent arrests occurred shortly after an agreement between India and Pakistan to cease hostilities following four days of military tensions.
The situation escalated on May 7 when the Indian military conducted strikes, referred to as Operation Sindoor, targeting what they claimed were terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
These military actions were a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals on April 22.
