Historic Elections for Tripura Olympic Association

Agartala (Tripura) [India] May 23: A significant milestone has been achieved for the sports community in Tripura as the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has successfully overseen the elections for the Tripura Olympic Association (TOA), according to an official announcement.


This momentous occasion, conducted under the supervision of the IOA President, signifies the revival of the Olympic movement in Tripura after a hiatus of more than 15 years.


The election process was marked by transparency and inclusivity, leading to the formal announcement of the new TOA Executive Committee.


A ceremonial oath-taking event took place at the Conference Hall of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yuba Awas in Khejurbagan, Agartala, attended by esteemed dignitaries, government officials, and representatives from the sports community.


The newly elected committee will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. With the new leadership in place, the TOA is poised to implement structural reforms and adopt a more professional approach to sports governance in the region.


The Indian Olympic Association congratulated the newly elected President, General Secretary, Executive Members, and other office bearers. IOA President PT Usha expressed her confidence in the new team's potential to enhance the sports environment in Tripura and create opportunities for aspiring athletes.


Special thanks were given to the Tripura State Government, particularly Chief Minister Manik Saha, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy, and officials from the Youth Affairs & Sports Department, as well as key figures like Ratan Saha and Sujit Roy, for their vital support in this transformative effort.


The IOA-Adhoc Committee also recognized the contributions of sports associations, officials, and the broader sporting community in Tripura, whose collaborative efforts have revitalized the Olympic spirit in the state and established a strong foundation for future sporting achievements.
